Must Have- Muslin Cloths

I used to exfoliate a couple of times a week. I thought I was helping my skin replenish. Sadly I was doing more damage than good. It was only when I introduce muslin cloths into my cleansing routine that I cut down dramatically on the scrubbing. By taking out the harsh scrub twice a week, my skin started to glow, didnt get dry patches that I felt I needed to slough away and my skin looked nice again!

Since then I only need to exfoliate every few weeks and use my muslins with my cleanser at night. It is great at removing make up without using harsh cleansers that can strip your skins natural oils.

Not using a muslin cloth? You should.

17 Photo Flawless

The latest newbies to the 17 make up range is their 'Photo Flawless' products including a primer, foundation and mascara.

My favourite of the range is the mascara. Its wand which is the first of its kind I have seen, helps to seperate the lashes and coats them with a dual pigmented pearlescent colour. There are 3 colours in the range Black/Blue, Black/Green and Black/Copper help accentuate your eye colour. The wand itself is curved so you can really get under your lashes and give them a fluttery look.

The primer does what it says on the tin. A silky finish leaves a nice base for your foundation.

The foundation is thick and quite hard to work in. It takes some going at it to get an even finish but leaves a matte look and doesnt need to be powdered after. Its doesnt last a whiole day for me though, If I am going out straight from the office then I do need a top up!

The new range is available now in Boots stores and online now.

Halo Hair Extensions

Hair extensions are a necessity in my world. My fine hair that is never thick or long enough for my liking often has a much needed boost from extensions. I normally by long wefts of hair and cut, sew and add clips. I tend to be put off by extensions that are ready to go as the hair can be thin and the clips not very sturdy.

A brand where none of this is true is Halo Hair Extensions. Offering a range of hair types and lengths, you can find exactly what you would like and choose from their extensive colour range. I have their 16" Full Head Clip-in Remy Human Hair in Darkest Brown which not only is a perfect colour match, it is also really good quality hair. I have seen some shocking sets in my time but these are perfect. So is the price!

This set is £39.99 which is a really good price for human remy hair and you get 75 grams of hair in the set. I have fine hair so this is plenty for me, but if you are lucky enough to have thick locks, they offer a deluze set for 112 grams of hair, which is only £10 more.

Included in the standard set is-

Number of clips: 14

Number of pieces: 8

2 pieces are 8” wide with 3 clips

2 pieces are 6” wide with 2 clips

4 pieces are 2” wide with 1 clip

Weight of hair: 75 grams – pure hair weight.

Type of hair: 100% Remy Human Hair

If you are new to hair extensions, their website offers videos and tips and tricks to help you along to look more J-Lo than Britney post shave-gate!

You can buy online and even use their colour match service to make sure you get the perfect match.

Brown & Harris scented candles...

There is something indulgent about candles. Light a scented candle and you are instantly relaxed. A candle and a bath is a little slice of heaven! Brown & Harris have new scent... English Rose. The candle itself is made from pure natural soy bean wax which lasts 40% longer than parrafin wax. The scent itself isn't overbearing, just subtle. Their candles last up to 40 hours.

Next time you have a pampering session, add in a Brown & Harris candle. It will keep burning longer than your hot bath!

Organic Surge Colour Protect Duo

After trying and loving Liz Earle's hair care range last year, I tried the Organic Surge new Colour Protect Duo with caution. I was wondering if it would live up to the Liz Earle range which I loved so much. The first 'organic' hair range to really make a stand in the market place.

The Organic Surge range is blended with natural moisturisers and doesnt strip away your colour. The shampoo contains Aloe Vera Juice to soothe any irritated scalps after colouring and the peach extract helping to protect your hair against heat. The conditioner is 100% free from synthetic silicones and contains no sodium lauryl, laureth sulphate or parabens.

The range itself lathers well, rinses well and leaves your hair soft and manageable. It smells of marzipan and peach but without a sickly smell. Overall a very pleasant experience and a great addition to any hair care routine.

The range is exclusively available on their site along side their current ranges of Blonde Boost, Shine Boost, Volume Boost and Moisture Boost.

Bella Bamba... the latest Benefit blush

Bella Bamba is the newest addition to the Benefit blush range. As a big Benefit fan (yes, cute packaging gets me every time) when i heard about this last year, I couldnt wait to try it.

The '3D' pink is brightening, sculpting and defining. Its a watermelon pink colour with a slight shimmer under lights. I would say a step pinker (yes thats a word) than coralista. The promo pics are a slightly muted colour. With a very light dusting this is non offensive and makes me look awake.

They have also changed the packaging! Yes, finally. Gone is the 2 part box and in its place is a hinged, magnetic lid, with an added mirror inside. The box is laminated too so you wont end up with a blush that looks like it has been in your collection for a 1000 years... even if it has! But, they have sacrifced some product to do this. The other blush/bronzers are 11g and this is 8g, all for the same price. Now, this is really pigmented and you only need a tiny bit, but still, dont think we havent noticed Benefit.

A beautiful addition to their range and now my make up collection. Thumbs up Benefit.

Bella Bamba is in stores and on counters now!

Witch Skincare Challenge Week

Last week I took part in Witchskincare's Skindependance challenge. The week long challenge involved 5 nights of fun and late nights to push our skin to the limit and see how our skin reacts to their product range. We had, alcohol, stress, sweat and food bingeing to test our skin. So a round up of our week-

Day 1- Cocktails @ The Upper Rockwell Bar

Day 2- Shopping in Primark, Oxford Street

Day 3- Dance class @ Pineapple Dance Studios

Day 4- Ronnie Scotts Jaxx Club

Day 5- Byron Burger

So how was my skin looking at the end of the week? Suprisingly peachy actually. For the whole of january, I swapped my usual skincare routine for Witch products to see how they worked.

In the skincare range;

Cleansing & Toning Wipes

Oil Control Foaming Face Wash

Gentle Exfoliating Face Wash

Blemish Pen

They have also just launched a make up range which includes;

Skin Clearing Primer

Redness Relief Moisturiser

Tinted Moisturiser

Pressed Powder

Concealer

So off I went to test all of these out whilst juggling my day job and the tube at rush hour. It was the best week I have had in a long time and totally worth the extra concealer under my eyes!

My favourite, stand out products have to be the concealer, oil control foaming face wash and the primer. All of which are now permanent additions to my routine.

The concealer is really creamy, covers amazingly well and lasts. So many concealers dry out your spots and dont last long leaving you with dodgy looking skin. The Witch concealer blends into your skin so your spots are hidden.

The oil control face wash is gentle and doesnt leave you with tight, dry skin as some similar washes do. My skin is left clean and soft ready to be moisturised.

The primer not only helps your make up to last, it also acts as a barrier between your skin and foundation. On small pump is enough and helps your foundation last all day. I only topped up on the tube for my own vanity but it wasnt needed at all! 18 hour days come as standard with this little gem.

All of the Witch products do what they say they will and are great value for money. You wont find any overexaggerated high end prices here and they are found on the shelf in supermarkets and chemists nationwide.

You can find out more about our week on Witch Skincare's blog. Also check out the other gorgeous girls I spent the week with.
