Perricone MD - No Foundation Foundation

I first heard about this product when google ads popped up on some youtube videos. I was intrigued and thought this would be the perfect product! No foundation foundation, sign me up! According to the Dr Perricone's website this;

-Instantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles, lines and pores.

-Provides non-chemical SPF 30 broad spectrum UV protection.

-Corrects skin undertones. Quick-absorbing. Moisturizes. Skin appears smooth and naturally dewy.

With this you dont need to worry about colour matching. There is just one universal shade. I'm going to hand over the Dr Perricone himself for the science...

This lightweight defensive solution is formulated with antioxidants, non-chemical sunscreen protection and specially-treated pigments, fused with light-diffusing mica.

These key sciences work together to create an absolutely flawless finish:

1. Alpha Lipoic Acid (Patented):

Provides antioxidant protection from skin damaging free radicals

Reduces wrinkles, fine lines, pore size, puffiness and discoloration

Smooths skin texture

Evens skin tone and imperfections

Tightens and lifts skin

Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

3. Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide

These two ingredients offer non-chemical, SPF 30 broad spectrum UV protection. Unlike chemical sun protectants, which get absorbed into the skin, these non-chemical ingredients sit on top of skin acting as a natural barrier against sun rays as they deflect the rays away from the skin.

What I thought?

To use this alone, it would need to be summer time. In the depths of winter I like to cover my face as much as possible! I used this for a few days on its own with concealer but decided I wanted a bit more coverage. I started using this underneath my foundation and havent let it go since. I love it. Its evens my skin tone, leaves it fresh, plumped and dewy and is a great base for my make up. The best way to descibe my skin when I use this is 'radiant' I hate that word, but I cant think of another one more suited. You are advised to apply this is circular motions, but you need to move quickly as its dries quite fast. My skin has reaped the benefits of the ingredients and looks healthy and fresh when I dont wear any make up. A first for a very long time! I feel like this creates a protective barrier between my skin and my make up.

The only downside is the smell. It smells, a lot. And it smells fishy. You do get used to the smell and I am pretty much immune to it now, but when I first started using this, I had to hold my breath until it had dried and I washed my hands... I suffer for my art! I am pretty pale so the colour of this is about 2-3 shades darker than my skin colour, although it blends in fine, I havent seen this being used on darker skin tones so I cant comment.

My only worry is me becoming addicted to this!

If you do just one thing today...

I have spoken about ECPAT before here. Last year, they joined forces with The Body Shop to launch a hand cream where all profits would go direct to the charity. This year, due to overwhelming support, they have set up a petition to gain over 1 billion signatures to enforce stricter laws and legislations. This will mean children and young people will be protected from things that we can only dare to imagine.

So spare 2 minutes of your time to sign the petition. You can sign the petition in store, so next time you're passing, pop in and save a childs innocence.

Office Nails

Luckily I work in an office wear nail varnish can come in any colour. But if you dont, it doesnt mean you can't have nice nails even though they arent hot pink. One of my favourite gel combos is the glitter french. A standard french finish with glitter. Subtle enough for work but pretty enough for outside.

Now I cant seem to picture this in all its glory, but I love it. I have had the tips pink, lilac and coral before too which was all shiny and pretty :) eeeee!

Sebastian Liquid Gloss

As you are all more than aware, I like volume in my hair. But I also love shine, high shine, mirror shine, shine. There is definitely a difference between shine and grease, this should not be mistaken! Sometimes by the time I have gone through my hair routine, at the end it looks a bit dull. A spritz of shine spray is usually enough, however there is a new kid in Lipgloss town.

Introducing Sebastian Liquid Gloss. These are defrizz-polishing drops. You can use them on damp or dry hair, all you do is pump a few drops into your hands, rub them together then press the product onto you hair. This is super lightweight so it wont weigh your hair down, although you I concentrate the product on the lengths of my hair and not the roots... it just makes sense. One of the best things about this, the size. The bottle is 50ml which is great for travelling and chucking in your handbag, or even your gym bag. That way you dont need to arrive at the office looking like you've just been to the gym! If you use Frizz Ease serum, this is a great product for you. It does everything Frizz Ease does, except adds that important shine too. If you want sleek, zero frizz hair, you need this in your life.

Scholl - Hydra Step

Scholl have taken foot moisturisation to a whole new level and launched Hydra Step. Their flip flop type shoes are lightweight and contain a special moisturising gel which releases 'skin nourishing' ingredients which moisturise while you walk. They are saped to your footbed and have an anti slip sole. Scholl recommend wearing these 1-2 hours a day to get the best out of them. They are at their best for the first 5 months but of course you can keep wearing them afterwards! Although if you wear these during the summer, you'll be back in your Uggs in 5 months. They come in white, black and pink. Mum is going to share her thoughts on them.

'The shoes are soft and comfy. They are easy to wear around the house although I dont think I would wear them out. They moisturise my feet without leaving them slimy and sticky. One big plus is that they dont rub your feet as looking at them I was worried they would. They have been perfect during the hot weather as they have a cooling effect. I will continue to wear them until the summer is out.'

17 - Mirror Shine Lipstick

Boots current 3 for 2 offer was the perfect chance for me to add some new pretty things to my stash. I picked up 3 of the new 17, Mirror Shine lipsticks. I spotted some high end versions of these a few weeks ago and added them to my mental wishlist, but when I saw the buzz on blogs and you tube videos, I knew I had to give these a try. I picked up Beehive and Peace first. Then when I got to the till the lady reminded me of the 3 for 2 offer so I ran (well walked quickly) back to the 17 stand and under pressure picked up Flirtini too.

If you have read about these you will know not to expect pigmentation. These are more of a tinted gloss, but still, very nice. Perfect for work and play. Sometimes a whole made up lip can look too much and lets face it, none of us like going au naturel. Some swatches for you...

Sadly the sun shining did nothing for these beauties!! :(

St Tropez Everyday Gradual Tanner

I hate the whole fake tanning routine. Exfoliate, moiturise, wait, apply tan, wait to dry, bed, shower, moisturise. So most of the time I settle for a subtle hint of tan rather than the full on, 'I've spent 2 weeks in Spain' tan. For me, I like to apply and forget and not worry about smelling like biscuits in the office. When I spotted St Tropez Everyday on offer in Boots, I grabbed one to give it a go. I've used a few gradual tanners over the years but never really found one worth my pennies.

St Tropez everyday is the only one that gives a nice glow after one use, doesnt smell and lasts well. I can apply this 2 nights in a row and have a noticeable difference in my skin tone. It might be more expensive than the Dove version, but I much prefer this one.

For now, this is fine for me! Its changes my casper like limbs into human like tones :)

Fathers Day picks...

Fathers day is nearly here again! If your dad has everything he could ever need, you should break im into the beauty world like I have! He has every power tool, bbq accessory and man toy imaginable.

I started with creams a few years ago and since then he has his own beauty bazaar in his en suite. Its full of Dove Pro-Age, L'Oreal skincare, aftershave galore. Anything aimed at a 50 something year old man, he has! To be fair, his stash sometimes puts mine to shame, and thats saying something.

This year I thought I would share my Fathers Day picks.

make up 188

Dunhill London, Boss by Hugo Boss, Hugo by Hugo Boss, Boss White edition and Lacoste Challenge. All are fresh, manly and not overpowering like Old Spice and Brut!! Give him 20 years and I'll be adding them to his collection!

Skin Care-

Dove have recently released their Mens range. Now that there is a special mens range, I am hoping he will give up on the womens one! The mens doesnt have the 'Dove smell' that we know and I personally love, but it does have a subtle but clean man smell! These are currently on offer in Sainsburys.

Now some dads may no longer have hair due to the credit card bills, phone bills and shopping bills we have inflicted on them over the years. My favourite products are- Sebastian Matte Putty and Sebastian Clay Putty both texturise and hold. Dad will loves these as does the brother who wanted to add his thoughts -  ' It adds texture, is non sticky, my hair is thickened, stays in place but importantly doesnt go hard.'

ps. Fathers Day is Sunday 20th June!

Ego Professional Alter Ego Hair Dryer

Having fine hair has its bonuses, like its super quick drying time. I normally dry my hair while watching tv in the ad breaks. Yep, quick. But, I still need to protect my hair from heat or I wont have any hair to dry!

Ego Professional have launched a hair dryer which dries hair with heat rather than wind. This means your hair wont be blasted away.

The blurb-

Don’t just make an entrance, blow them away with the Alter Ego Professional Hair Dryer.

No less than 8 heat and speed settings make this ergonomic dryer the ultimate in efficiency and usability. The generous 10 foot cord and strong but light design gives you real freedom while its powerful 2000 watt motor puts you back in control. The dryer is packed with HW2 technology to improve hair quality and manageability in next to no time.

Increased precision and versatility from 8 heat and speed settings

Easy on the eye with ergonomically efficient design

Lightweight at just 13.5 oz it’s no sweat to hold for long periods

High-performance at 2000 watts of power

HW2 technology for decreasing drying time while delivering sleeker, smoother hair

Far-infrared heat emission to penetrate deep, drying hair from the inside out

Pro-length cord giving 10ft of freedom to move

Comprehensive and extensive 2 year warranty

So have a noticed the difference in my hair? The answer is yes. My feels noticeably less dry. After using this my hair feels like its held moisture better, my hair is shinier too. The only thing worth thinking about it the price tag. Considering how long a hair dryer lasts and how often its used to near off £100 price tag isnt an issue.

Mypure Bloggers Parcel - Round 1

Mypure have set up a blogging panel where parcels are sent out to bloggers for review. The first parcel contained 3 products. I enlisted the help of some of my friends to review.

Eighth Natural Wonder Revitalising Facial Serum

This is by Kosmea an Australian brand who base their skin care around organic rosehip oil. This is their 'hero anti-aging' product. It comes in 2 sizes, 20ml and 50ml and contains patented anti aging ingredients. Friend number one explains how she got on...

I have normal skin, although I dont have mature skin, I am always on the look out for products to prevent aging. The packaging feels quite plasticy. Now I know that its whats inside that counts, I just like nice looking things to sit in my bathroom. I take it all the costs have gone into the actual product rather than the packaging. This smells very floral which I am not a fan of, but I held my nose and applied it. It applies nicely and soaks into my skin well. my skin felt refreshed as it sunk it too which is nice on a warm evening. All well and good till a few days later when I developed bumps underneath my skin. This was the only change to my skincare routine so I stopped using it and a couple of days later my skin returned to normal. I was a bit upset that this had happened when the product claims to be so natural.

Next up, [A'kin] Pure Rose Hydrating Facial Mist

This is another anti-ageing product with hyaluronic acid, a natural ingredient which helps skin cells retain moisture. Friend number 2-

Unfortunately this moisturiser did not hit the spot, even with it's convenient spray top! The light spray did not give the coverage and well moisturised feel that a cream would. Whilst it was quite refreshing and gave a blast of moisture which can be needed, especially on a hot day, it could not replace the every day cream.

The spray, much like a sun lotion, did make it easier for the hard to reach places such as your back. With summer upon us, strapless tops and halter neck dresses replace the jumpers and this product can help to ease the problems of a feeling dry. The moisturiser has a strong floral smell which I found a little over powering.

Overall, the spray can provide a revitalizing boost that may help you carry on from the summer BBQ to the party afterwards but could not be a replacement for your daily moisturising routine.

And lastly we have, Lovea's Moroccan Argan Brilliance Shine Shampoo

Lovea hair care is an organic range from France which launched in the UK in May. The handy bottom of the bottle cap shampoo comes in a big size and contains the much spoken about Moroccan Argan Oil. I have read many reviews about the oil itself so was looking forward to giving this a whirl. Sadly the bottles writing is all in french so I couldnt find out too much about the product inside. So I followed my head and shampooed as normal. With organic products you dont expect much lather due to the sulphates and such being culled, but the lathered well enough to do the job. The smell cant be described. Each time I have used it I have tried to work it out but I just cant, its nutty but sweet and not fruity. Thats the best you're going to get! Once I washed this out, my hair felt squeaky clean and ready for conditioner. I dried my hair and the shine came out, people even asked me if I had dyed my hair... no no, just a new shampoo! My only downside with this is that my hair needed a wash a lot sooner than normal which upped my use of dry shampoo and meant more work on my hair.

Stayed tuned for the next batch of Mypure products.

You can visit Mypure's website site here.
