Perricone MD - No Foundation Foundation

I first heard about this product when google ads popped up on some youtube videos. I was intrigued and thought this would be the perfect product! No foundation foundation, sign me up! According to the Dr Perricone's website this;

-Instantly reduces the appearance of wrinkles, lines and pores.

-Provides non-chemical SPF 30 broad spectrum UV protection.

-Corrects skin undertones. Quick-absorbing. Moisturizes. Skin appears smooth and naturally dewy.

With this you dont need to worry about colour matching. There is just one universal shade. I'm going to hand over the Dr Perricone himself for the science...

This lightweight defensive solution is formulated with antioxidants, non-chemical sunscreen protection and specially-treated pigments, fused with light-diffusing mica.

These key sciences work together to create an absolutely flawless finish:

1. Alpha Lipoic Acid (Patented):

Provides antioxidant protection from skin damaging free radicals

Reduces wrinkles, fine lines, pore size, puffiness and discoloration

Smooths skin texture

Evens skin tone and imperfections

2. DMAE

Tightens and lifts skin

Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

3. Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide

These two ingredients offer non-chemical, SPF 30 broad spectrum UV protection. Unlike chemical sun protectants, which get absorbed into the skin, these non-chemical ingredients sit on top of skin acting as a natural barrier against sun rays as they deflect the rays away from the skin.

What I thought?

To use this alone, it would need to be summer time. In the depths of winter I like to cover my face as much as possible! I used this for a few days on its own with concealer but decided I wanted a bit more coverage. I started using this underneath my foundation and havent let it go since. I love it. Its evens my skin tone, leaves it fresh, plumped and dewy and is a great base for my make up. The best way to descibe my skin when I use this is 'radiant' I hate that word, but I cant think of another one more suited. You are advised to apply this is circular motions, but you need to move quickly as its dries quite fast. My skin has reaped the benefits of the ingredients and looks healthy and fresh when I dont wear any make up. A first for a very long time! I feel like this creates a protective barrier between my skin and my make up.

The only downside is the smell. It smells, a lot. And it smells fishy. You do get used to the smell and I am pretty much immune to it now, but when I first started using this, I had to hold my breath until it had dried and I washed my hands... I suffer for my art! I am pretty pale so the colour of this is about 2-3 shades darker than my skin colour, although it blends in fine, I havent seen this being used on darker skin tones so I cant comment.

My only worry is me becoming addicted to this!

  2. Ooh sounds intriguing! I think i would like it, i don't really like wearing foundation, especially in summer as it makes my skin feel too covered and heavy. The fishy smell worries me though!

  3. The smell is due to dmae. If it smells like this, it must be *serious* DMAE! My face cream with dmae also smells, but it's not noticeable after some 20 minutes. (by anyone, I mean) ;)
