Fit Woman Boot Camp

When you think of boot camp, you think 5am wake up calls, being scremed at by a commando, and living on bread and water. It was nothing like that. My boss and I had been toying with the idea for about a year now and one day we decided we were going to bite the bullet. Lots of googling and reseach found us at FitWoman Boot Camp. A 5 or 7 day residential boot camp that claims you can lose up to 14lbs in under a week. Yes please! We called and were offered a space on the course for the next week which was only 5 days away. We said yes and the next Monday we were on our way down to Bournemouth for 5 days of gruelling exercise and diet. Oh and no make up, hair dryer, or straightener!

I was nervous and anxious as to be honest we didnt really know what to expect. I used to be a pro dancer so I knew I would be able to tackle anything that was thrown at me but being at my biggest and unhealthiest had me worried. Our trainer and the owner Spencer Cuckney has over 20 years personal training experience and specialises in fitness and weight loss for women. Spencer teams up with some world class athletes such as John Orchard, three times world champion in kickboxing and Jenny Prowse, British kickboxing champion and European Thai boxing champion. If these guys cant works off the pounds, no one can! We all know that exercise is no good without a decent diet too. On the team is Diana Green, the nutritionist and chef. If you are expecting to live on celery all week, think again. Diana's meal were delicious, nutritious and filling. She really helps to retrain your body on portion control. There was never a point in the week where I was genuinely hungry. A typical lunch was pepper stuffed with Quinoa and honey salmon. Dinner consisted of thai fish soup (seriously amazing) or rogan josh. All the meals and snacks are designed to be healthy and give you just the right amount of energy and nutrition to get you to the next meal.

Each day was different in terms of activities and meals but they all had a similar pattern...

7am- Breakfast
8am- Power hike
10am- snack
10am-1pm boot camp session, abs, boxing.
1pm- Lunch
1.30pm-4pm surfing
4pm - snack
4.30pm- 6pm beach hike
7pm- dinner
8pm- cooking classes, massage, relaxation time

The activites changed each day and the locations meaning you never got bored. The local scenery is amazing especially the beaches which made 4 mile walks that bit better!! The exercise and fresh air meant we were exhausted every night but by the end of the week we felt amazing. Refreshed and revitalised.

One thing I wasnt expecting was to make some really good friends. I luckily had my boss with me so we werent too worried about being on our own but the other girls made the trip. We laughed so much which made being away from home and families that bit easier.

Good trainers are your friends. I unfortunately suffered really bad blisters which were so bad that I couldnt put trainers on and had to sit some activities out.

How did I get on? We had our weigh in on the Friday morning which marked 4 days. I lost 7 pounds in those 4 days along with 1.5 inches from my bust and 2.5 inches from my waist. Not bad seen as I couldnt do everything!

My plan now?? To stick to 1500 cals a day and carry on training. I have set myself goals which I think are achieveable and I will be reporting back.

And the ultimate question-

Would I recommend Fit Woman Boot camp?
Absolutley. It has changed my way of thinking and set me on the right track. This has been the kick start I needed and I will be returning for another 5 or 7 days for my next boost. This is a great idea fo brides to be, to get you bikini ready and even to shift that last half a stone.
I cant rave about this enough. If you are thinking about doing it, just go for it. And tell Spencer I sent you :)
Please feel free to ask any questions you have, I will happily answer them.

xoxo

  1. Really interesting post! I've always been kind of intrigued/fascinated/horrified by these boot camps. They sound great though from how you describe it, especially since the other people are nice and you actually have fun instead of being miserable! Congrats on getting through it and losing that half a stone. Amazing achievement in four days and very very inspiring :)

Good luck continuing all the good work!
